baby talk.

because of these mini hooligans
i, along with the rest of my grown friends and family,
can't stop saying things like...
"wutdiheek"
{translation:  what the heck!...where do they learn these things?}
trendsetters.
i like them.  a lot.
hug a toddler for me today.

summer '11: hard core.

school started yesterday.  it was good.  there was an angry woman in my class who complained about the teacher being late for the first 10 minutes of class...but that angry woman turned out to be my teacher.  she's crazy.  i am betting that i may be having a series of hilarity about her throughout the semester.  plus she teaches interventional grammar so that's good.
but before i start up those crazy uvu posts, let's reminisce, shall we?
top 10 summer '11 moments.
10.  jay-z comforting me while the east coast plane trip got bumpy.
9.  discovering my passion for hard core-ness in the form of bike gang.
8.  taylorsville dayzz never disappoints.
and those m&m cookies added to the mix took it to a new level.
7.  deciding to participate in a triathalon {someday} and swim to my heart's content.  plus grandma's senior water aerobics really got my artheritis cleared up...wait what?
6.  peaches and creme fraiche quickly replaced "breathing" in my top 3 necessities for living.
5.  stumbling upon a yellow bike after months of searching.  she is now mine.  and she is my best friend.
4.  getting this awesome bruise while boating with my uncle mark that i tried to irritate for weeks so it would stay hard core forever.
3.  having audrey ask for my number.  actually, wait, i forced that upon her.  CALL ME GF!  too far.
2. molding young minds while picking up some new vocab. WHAT DI HICK!?!
1.  riding down a hill on antelope island during the moonlight ride.  every steep hill, mosquito bite, intense fear that i was going to be kidnapped buy humans or aliens, and the near dehydration scare was worth it for that giant hill that made my bike go 80 mph for realsies.

they call me mojo.

gangs are hard core.
22 mile moonlight bike rides with real live biting hair bugs are hard core.
red hair is hard core.
tie those things together and you get my bike gang.
we're hard core.
if you or someone you know would like to be hard core
get off the computer, go into your garage, get your bike, dust it off, and train with these guidelines.
MUSTs
  • be able to ride with sass.  meaning ride with your hands on your hips because that is the definition of sass.
  • do a wheelie.  because someone in the gang should know how in order to be legit.
  • watch this video and adopt this attitude.
  • despise cars.  the antibike.  bike everywhere.
  • pass hazing initiation rituals that will be left up to the founders.
MUSTN'Ts
  • insist on wearing helmets.  even if your dad tricks you into it.
  • cry when the gang gets too hard core.  in fact you should never cry because gangsters don't cry.  unless they see a bike get destroyed on purpose.  that is messed up.
  • refuse a nickname.  i am mojo.  rightfully so.
  • diss the theme song of the gang.
  • fall off of your bike unless you are a) telling a story or b)adding dramatic effect to a situation.
when you are man enough to run it
call me.

another sun soaked season fades away.

{me and summer--the season, not a person.}
i cannot believe i am writing another "good times in the sun" list.  but with summer over, it just brings me one more season closer to the return of sister wightman!!  so here we go...
  • discovering strawberries/sour cream/brown sugar.
  • spontaneous trips to st. george.
  • planned trips to st. george.
  • realizing that "beer can" in jamaican is the same as "bacon" in english.
  • many farewells {someday those will be homecomings and i love those even more.}
  • getting over the "hump".
  • loving so you think you can dance.
  • going to the king's english with mama and all of our other little adventures.
  • digging through d.i. and finding goodies.
  • spending lots of time with my sweet grandparents and being able to serve them.
  • the weekend of taylorsville dayzz and the art's festival almost made me overdose on love.
  • toy story 3.  and despicable me.  and inception.
  • my little nuggets at the daycare.  i wish it wasn't illegal so show pictures of them.  you'd die from their cute-ness.
  • scavenger hunting with my creative little friends.
  • pretending to not be afraid of celebrity ghost stories with dad.
summer.  good times.  but next summer, when sister wightman gets to be called courtney again, that will be even better times.  can't wait.  uvu...here i come, again.

my life in the sand box.

{me and my little friends.}

the number one thing that i have learned this summer is how crazy fun sandboxes are. true, they are easily the most unsanitary place on the planet and you get sand in places you'd rather be sand-free, but still.  i have spent a majority of my summer in this very sandbox,
building towers,
digging holes,
and i even taught my little 2 year old babies big kids how to make and decorate sand cupcakes.
talented little monsters.
and they have taught me some new lessons.
for example:
i can't remember the last time i said a sentence without adding an "ie" on the end of at least one word{ie}.
also i have caught myself using day care methods at home.
i tell my mom that if she "puts her pee pee in the potty" then she can get a sticker.
i tell my friends that our "feet are for the floor not for kicking."
i tell my family that "it's fun to share with our friends."
i caught myself signing my name "miss paige" once or maybe twice.
and i have a new appreciation for dr. suess.

i like my job.
and i think i might buy myself a sandbox.

p.s. happy 200th post!

the living is easy.

{sorry about the bare feet, n.}

i love my tramp{oline}
even though
my feet turn black
summer is back...
back in black.

suddenly, everything has changed.

last summer was odd.  it was the last summer to spend with my sister and the majority of my friends, before they left on their missions.  courtney and i never found jobs.  and to top it all off, our neighbor was feeding a raccoon family from their back porch.  if it were last summer i would say that my favorite things included:  raccoon hunting, sitting on lawn chairs in the front yard with courtney waiting for the mail, and walking to einstein bagels to remember what it felt like to be a little kid without a driver's license.  this summer is different. my only source of social interaction is with my mom and dad {not that there is anything wrong with that}, my neighbor switched her focus from raccoons to ducks, and i have learned that the mail comes faster when you aren't waiting for it.  plus, me and my mom and my dad {besties for life}have discovered some real gems this summer.  so far i love 2 things about the summer of 2010...
1.

{sev...wait i have always loved that...}
and 2.

{the king's english bookstore.}

and i am anxiously waiting more summer '10 legends.
bring it on.
any suggestions?

here it comes.

{bucket list}
saturday:  moved out.  it was sad.  it was dirty.  it is clean now.  home is good.
sunday:  baby blessed.  possibly the cutest little nugget of all time.  check her out. met a second gavin {meaning not thee gavin} that loved strawberries more than anyone else could.  worried about finals for a riduculous amount of time and maybe wasted a ridiculous amount of moisture.
monday: took finals.  rocked 'em. cleaned that sad, empty place i called home this time last week.
tomorrow:  summer.  bucket list shall begin.  don't worry lovelies...great posts, coming your way.  my mind is sleepy.  she went through a lot of square root properties and other useless things that will do absolutely nothing for me as an elementary school teacher. oh and glee is tomorrow.  yay!
p.s. i'd like to try this.  danielle/marie/natalie/self, please add this to the bucket list.  on second thought...maybe you shouldn't.

summer is so close.  i can feel the sun burn already.  and, oh boy, am i i excited.  i have been preparing like mad for it.  marie and i, as well as dani and i have created quite the to do list(s) that has potential to keep me bust every blasted hour of summer vacation.  here they are...
