me mama.

{my mom. the birthday girl.}
nobody can compliment me quite like this girl can.  nobody can understand me like her.  nobody can make me want to be better like she can.  my mama is everything i want to be.  she has called london, canada, south africa, and {best of all} salt lake city home.  she has served a mission.  she married in the temple.  she brought two girls into the world and dealt with handfuls of heartache trying to bring more.  she potty trained me, who was a monster when it came to toilets i hear.  she lasted through courtney's phase that she was convinced she was a dog and would go around sniffing and biting.  she watched her sweetheart undergo major surgery and nursed him back to health.  she watched her first born struggle through cancer scares and was nothing but support, hope, and faith. she woke up in the wee hours of the morning to make sure i had a cold water bottle and a piece of toast for drill team in the morning.  she even dropped me off at the school when i was too tired to make the 1 mile journey.  she has sacrificed multiple saturdays and infinite dollars so that i could live my dream {drill team and byu football fan life, that is}. she doesn't have wrinkles and she still hangs out with her darling of 25 years.  she supports her sister missionary baby like a champion.  she tells me {and dad} to stop missing our missionary so much, but instead be proud of her.  she watches shows with me, no matter how cheesy, or weird, or crazy {except celebrity ghost stories...that one she let's dad and i watch without her...i wonder why?}  she listens to all the stories i have to tell, no matter how lame or unfunny they are to anyone but me.  she comments on my blog posts, even when i don't drop a million hints.  she gives me advice and helps me out even when i don't ask for it.  she loves to love what i love.  and i love it.  i love her.
happy birthday mom!
i love you.

tricky.

{mom pointing to serendipity 3.  in vegas}
{me pointing to my favorite sign...or favorite person, rather.  in vegas.}
{mom pointing to her favorite casino...or favorite people-donny and marie.  in vegas.}

next time you are in a large crowd,
the drunken and woozy kind is best,
point somewhere.
the crowd will go wild.
everyone will want to see what you are pointing at
and then they'll look
and then you will have successfully tricked them.
and if you feel the desire to yell
"made ya look"
then do so.
because you only live once.
and that is todays lesson on immuturity.
you're welcome.

sew on patches to all you tear

dear future mr. paige,
please make me as happy as my parents have been for the last 25 years.  let's be as fun as they are and go on dates every weekend.  and let's have as cute of kids as they did.  and please be as good to me as my dad is to my mom.  let's have just as much fun weeding the garden or cleaning the house as my parents do.  and remember to remember what i'm going to wear on our first date and remind me about it 25 years later, like my dad did the other day.  and tell our kids how cool i am, like my dad told me about my mom and some red shoes she wore once. and i promise to be home when you get home from work every night, just like my mom does for my dad.  oh and let's go to europe, all expenses paid, like my parents are doing in september, but let's not rub it in our daughters face and make her as jealous as i am.  just promise to take me to the temple and love me for eternity, just like mom and dad.
love,
me
{happy anniversary, mom and dad!}

mama.

remember in elementary when we made "mother, i love you because..." lists?  i remember.  i wish they did that in college.  i could really use one of those today.  so i will make my own.  cartwheels to car wheels:  where elementary crafts are still thought of and appreciated {new motto}.  so mama...
i love you because...
this makes you look like glinda the good witch
{fyi:  in the wightman home, that is a really really nice compliment, not a put down.}
how many people can say their mom
was a baton twirler?
for real live parades!
i can.
you were already so nurturing
as a small one.
practice made perfect!
we had matching graduation gowns.
birthdays are clearly our favorite celebration.
and i think i make that very face
every year on february 11.
you fell in love with this guy.
and he is perfect for you.
and you for him.
{i hope i find someone as crazy cool and perfect for me as you did.}
and best of all
you gave the world this thing.
and she is our favorite, huh?
and, of course, i came.
and together, we rock the world!
we make a pretty good 4.
and all thanks to you!
happy mother's day, mama.

mom and dad.

{little mama being an angel.}

sometimes i do really really ridiculously ridiculous things.
like the time that i lost my dad's debit card at hollywood video while trying to rent season 2 of the o.c.
or the time that i left my mom's debit card at the taco bell drive thru.
or the time when i locked my keys in the car while the car was running during a basketball game.
or the time when i locked the keys in the car in provo while my dearest loved ones came to visit me in my new city and my parent drove all the way here and saved us.
none of these times did my parents yell at me.  or punish me.  or got mad at me.  even though i definitely deserved a spanking or a time out or something.
i really have thee best parents ever.  really.
argue all you want but what would your parents do if you sprayed windex on all of the frames in the house during chores and ruined all the of the pictures around?
mine laughed at me.  like always.
i love them too much!
