cinema courtesy.

{some of my loves.}
anyone who claims to know me should know one thing.  i love movies.  i literally live and breathe movies.  the oscars are the best day of the year in my mind.  i can't sleep unless a movie is on.  i dream in movie form.  movie theaters...heaven.  but i noticed some of my pet peeves last weekend while at the century theaters {boo} seeing city island {loved it.}.  so if i run into you this weekend, maybe while seeing iron man 2 or something, please do me a favor and don't do any of the following...

  1. i know this person who works at my new favorite movie theater who makes $5 an hour.  ouch.  so my first suggestion is doing this guy a favor as much as it is doing me one.  if you are with a big group {big group meaning 2 or more people}, do us all a favor and gather everyone's tickets, hand it to the ticket taker, and carry on.  these poor people make $5 an hour!  the last thing i want to do is make him repeat "last theater on your left" a quadrillion times when i heard him tell my family in front of me.  it's common courtesy.
  2. in an empty theater, please don't sit right by me.  i'm an arm rest hog and don't feeling like rubbing elbows with a complete stranger unless i absolutely have to.
  3. laugh a little bit more.  i feel like i am the only one dying from laughter these days.  laughing is good.  try it.
  4. support greatness.  remember the dollar theaters over by cafe rio and what was once discovery zone and last summer the marquee read "closed forever"?  well don't be fooled--they aren't closed forever...they are now the greatest thing since sliced bread, meaning they show new movies for super cheap.  so it doesn't have as much leg room as jordan landing and you can't go shop at anthropologie immediately following a flick, but you can save...and in college world {a common phrase for me these days} saving is better than leg room.  also, go to the broadway and see artsy goods.  the broadway feels like what i imagine old time theaters were like...super classy and new york-y.  i love you and you should too.
  5. love movies more than texting.
so who wants to go to the movies with me tonight?
