- i think out loud a lot.
- i love 7-11.
- 7-11 loves me back.
i filled up my big gulp.
i smiled at the slurpee machine {because i love slurpees and wished i could get that too.}
then proceeded to the register.
the cashier said cash only.
and i said....bbbbut i don't have any. {imagine my saddest voice because that is exactly how it sounded}
but i have a check! i said.
okay sure. he said.
so i wrote a check for $1.06
then my mind told my mouth to say this feels weird because it did feel weird to write a check for $1.06.
the cashier started laughing. yes it is very weird to write checks for that much.
he laughed some more.
you very funny. {he did in fact say it like that}
he laughed some more.
i started to feel like he was making fun of me and my soccer mom of a checkbook.
okay actually the card machine is working. he said.
i ripped up the check, swiped my card and listen to the cashier laugh some more. he was amused by this.
you welcome back anytime friend! he said. and i smiled.
oh i will definitely be back friend. i said. bye raj!
then i left and wondered if he only lets people he finds humorous use the credit card machine.
so just in case you need a diet coke fix or a slurpee any time soon, i'd bring cash or prepare a few jokes.
p.s. this isn't my first experience
falling in friendship
{like falling in love, but as friends, not lovers}
with a sev worker.

Just one question. With all the Pakistani Sev employees in the U.S., Do you think that maybe being a clerk at Sev is the absolute pinnacle of success or adventure in Pakistani culture? When asked "What do you want to be when you grow up?" do little Manmeets or Rajs say, "You funny, of course, I want to move to U.S. and be clerk in Sev"
